*-* PLEASE NOTE: This will be the absolute last update of this book *-*
*-* listing unless there are any missing book numbers, due to the *-*
*-* fact that West End Games has probably shut their doors for good. *-*
Compiled by David O. Little for the various nets that discuss Star Wars and/
or the RPG. Places this list may be posted at (I ask that if you'd like to
post this listing at your page, please e-mail me and I will post your address

-*=* This RPG Book Listing has gone International! *=*-
+ With a great thanks to Craig Carey (umotamba@coyote.rain.org) whose list +
+ was much more comprehensive than mine. +
Updates to this listing are now marked with an "*" to show what information
has been added or corrected. For people wishing to order books due to the
scarcity of RPG material in their area, I have added on the ISBN# so your
local book or gaming store can order it. Lately I have been able to include
items published in other languages such as French, German, Italian, Spanish
and Swedish to help those overseas Star Wars RPG fans to get the books they
are in need of. This list is entirely public domain and is subject to all
kinds of torture and abuse from pirates of any sector. Star Wars is a
trademark of Lucasfilm Limited, used by West End Games under permission. All
Rights Reserved. Any likenesses of this list to any other lists are purely
your fault!

Definitions -
- Main & Supplement Rules
These are the main rule books as well as any other rules updates,
character, weapon, ship, droid, skills, etc. updates, or conversions from the
1st edition rules to the 2nd edition.
- Sourcebooks
These books contain most of the information for the game. Planets,
ships, weapons, and droids as well as characters from the movies, books,
radio series, and comics considered "official" by Lucasfilm.
- Galaxy Guides
These are like the Sourcebooks in that they have the equipment and
such used in the game, but are generally a smaller number of pages and are
not printed in hardback (although some sourcebooks are reprinted in a soft-
back format.) They are also usually dealing with one specific subject instead
of the broader range of subjects in the sourcebooks.
- Supplements other than Galaxy Guides or Sourcebooks
The reason I did not include these titles into the Galaxy Guides is
because they are not labeled as such. They are technically Galaxy Guides in
that they are smaller than the sourcebooks, but instead it also contains
small adventure outlines for playing out your own campaign or adventure.
- Adventure Modules
These are pre-generated adventures for a gamemaster to pit against
his/her players. They are included in that they sometimes had information
dealing with various aliens, ships, and equipment for the game. Some of you
may recognize a 2nd edition Adventure Module list where there were none
originally. I decided to add it since the growing supplements that are
geared towards the adventure modules. (Anyone know all the adventure
modules?)
- Solitary Adventures
The Luke and Han adventures were a kind of "choose-your-own-adventure"
books, but used the Star Wars rules and character's die codes. The Lightsaber
Dueling Pack and Starfighter Battle Book were also a "choose-your-own-
adventure", but had "player's viewpoint" series of pictures and you would
choose the next course of action (kind of like a paperback DOOM game). None
of these were very popular and you might can find one or two of these in a
bargain basement type of sale, but they were an interesting attempt on a
different type of RPG by West End Games.
- Board Games
These were the precursor to the Miniatures Rules that came out after
the 2nd edition came out. They were basically a miniatures rules set so that
you could include chase scenes into your game. Several of the Adventure
Modules had scenarios already set up to run.
- Live Action RPG
These are the Live Action Roleplaying Rules.
- Miniature Rules
Self explanitory - the miniature's rule books.
- Miniature Adventures
Pre-generated scenarios for the Star Wars Miniature RPG.
- Miniature Packs
These packs were a large, usually 10 figures, set of lead miniatures.
- Blister Packs
These are a smaller, usually 3 figures, hang-on-the-wall sets of
non-lead minitures. Most of the figures from the larger packs were just re-
packaged into the smaller sets instead of making more large packs.
- Miniature Vehicles
Metal vehicles for use with the Miniature Battles. All vehicles
require some assembly.
* NOTE: The blister packs and vehicles are not issued with ISBN numbers. *

Not-So-Frequently-Asked-Questions about this list -
(These might help explain some future questions)
Q: How come you have some of the same titles in both editions?
A: The titles in the 2nd edition part of the list are updates for several of
the characters, ships, equipment, skills, etc. from the 1st edition rules
to the 2nd edition. Also some of the original Galaxy Guides were put into
sourcebooks. The Star Wars Movies Trilogy sourcebook is a combination of
"Galaxy Guides" #1, 3, and 5. The Planets Collection is also the
combination of "Planets of the Galaxy, volumes 1-3". The Classic Campaigns
are also a combination of the adventure outlines featured in the
"Gamemaster's Kit" and "Campaign Pack."
Q: What's a "Gamemaster's Screen"?
A: It's a kind of fold-out screen to block whatever the GM (short for Game
Master) may have up his/her sleeve. Usually, on the outside it has
information for the players like damage codes and such, where on the
inside it has the same, but also difficulty scales and other things only
the GM should know.
Q: What's "The Darkstryder Campaign (Boxed Set)" and why is it set
aside from the Adventure Modules
A: It's what I'm calling a "Campaign-inna-Box". It's a sourcebook, adventure
outlines, characters, and some other items all put together and sold in a
box. I set it aside because I wasn't sure where to put it. The "Far Star"
crew is also now in miniature form for use with the Miniature Battles.
Q: Why isn't there a Hardware Wars Sourcebook?
A: Don't try me, kid...
Q: What's the Star Wars Adventure Journal?
A: It's a quarterly magazine put out by West End that contains stories, pre-
generated adventures for the RPG and miniatures, updates to characters,
ships, (yea, I know I keep sayin' that!) etc., and previews of not only
Star Wars related material, but other West End Games products. I recommend
it even if you don't play the game. Try your local hobby, game, or
bookstore for issues.
Q: Why didn't you include the Adventure Journal in your list?
A: Mainly because it is a magazine and not a book like the ones listed here.
As of this edition I have 11 issues and typing every one of them as they
come out would be too hard to keep up. (Write me if you want their ISBN#)
Q: You mean you're just lazy...?
A: I said not to try me...!
Q: Who or what is this "Cracken"?
A: General Airen Cracken is head of Rebel/New Republic Intelligence. He is
originally featured in 3 supplements and an occasional "Wanted By Cracken"
guest shot in the Adventure Journal. His son also makes a guest appearance
in part three of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars trilogy, "The Last Command".
Respectively, Platt O'Keefe is featured originally in the Star Wars
Adventure Journal in the "Smuggler's Log" section. She was given her own
supplement in "Platt's Starport Guide".
Q: Are all of these books "canon" to the original movies?
A: If you mean canon in that it is official to Lucas, yes and no. West End is
in constant contact with Lucasfilm about every project West End has lined
up. Several of the authors that have published new Star Wars books and
comics have labeled the RPG a Star Wars "Bible", BUT, GL does retain the
right to make movies to swat down every one of these books and make us all
look bad!
You have to remember, science fiction is just that...FICTION! And like all
the RPGs out there, your universe your characters live in is different
than mine and/or most other players and GMs. I might consider a book
"canon" while Joe Nameless down the street might not. This is first and
foremost a listing of the Star Wars RPG books and their accessories and
not an official timeline or canon reference sheet.
Q: What books do you recommended beginning player or Gamemaster to start out
with?
A: If you're a player, you really don't need anything except a person that is
a GM. If you want to become a GM and run Star Wars games with your
friends, you need at least one of the rulebooks and at best the Star Wars
Sourcebook. I recommend the first edition if you can find it. It's just
an easier system to learn to play and GM on (It was the first system I
GMed on.) You can then graduate on to the second edition if you want, and
go on and buy the other supplements. Another good piece of equipment to
get is the Gamemaster's Screen. It contains most of the information you
need right in front of you so you don't have to keep flipping through
pages.
There is also a great Introductory Adventures boxed set available
containing everything a beginning player needs to know without having to
trouble your GM for the rulebook every few minutes. It also contains
some maps, Character Cards, 6 dice, cut-out figures, an adventure and
some blank character templates.
Also, if you don't really want to get into the game itself, the Star Wars
Movie Trilogy Sourcebook is a gold mine of information pertaining to the
movie trilogy. Well worth the trouble for a Star Wars fan who doesn't want
to play the RPG.
Q: What about playing the more "Imperial"-aligned characters?
A: Actually one of the supplements, "Heroes and Rogues" goes into that. It
contains 60 new template types, 17 Imperial - 31 Independent, as well as
a "free-form" background generator for your character which is
more comprehensive than what came in the "Gamemasters Handbook". Also
"GG12: Aliens: Enemies and Allies" give a great deal of aliens, some of
whom have already mentioned elsewhere in the novels and comics. These are
a MUST for anyone wishing to really develop their character or play
something less aligned to the Alliance/New Republic.
Q: What about starting out on the Miniature RPG?
A: The Star Wars Miniature Battles Starter set is the best bet since it
comes with the rulebook, rules companion, and minis so you can start
right off into it. The Imperial Entanglements supplement has some updates
to mistakes or items left out from the rules, and several scenarios
including one you can run solo. The Adventure Journal has also produced
a few scenarios to run.

Q: What about the new Star Wars Customizable Card Game and it's connection to
the regular RPG?
A: Although West End Games provided a great deal of info for the CCG,
Decipher is the producer. You can get any kind of info for the game (as
well as it's FAQ) from the Decipher Web Page at:
http://www.decipher.com
Q: What about information pertaining to the new movies and books and their
publication into the RPG?
A: You can find all kinds of that information on the Webs, ftp sites, usenet,
and Star Wars FIDOnet areas.
There are two magazines published specifically for Star Wars fans. "Star
Wars Insider" is the official Star Wars/Lucasfilm Fan Club magazine which
includes articles on upcoming Lucasfilm projects and "Star Wars Galaxy"
which is published by Topps who also put out the Star Wars trading cards
series. SWG also features stats for various characters, new and old, for
the Star Wars RPG.
America Online has several message folders concerning the RPG as well as a
West End Games message area. Keywords: "Star Wars, RPG, GCS"
You can also join the E-mail list. Send e-mail to
"listserv@listserv.aol.com" with the message "subscribe sw-rpg
".
There is no web page at this time, but one shall be open soon.
Q: Just one more question, could the Enterprise-D kick a Star Destroyer's
butt?....erk....ACK!....
A: You have been warned...[DoLittle initiates the Injure/Kill Force Power on
this helpless victim...]
