WEG40302 Imperial Forces WEG40415 Imperial Officers WEG40437 Heir to the Empire Villains |
There was a bit of a dilemma when I sat down to paint this first figure on the left. The specific rank insignia he wears didn't coincide with any of the published material concerning ranks nor did it appear in any part of the film. Since the sculptor took creative license, I did the same and just named him "The Lieutenant". Captain Paelleon graces the middle while Grand Moff Tarkin sternly stands, watching the battle at hand. |

WEG40437 Heir to the Empire Villians |
This was one of the more fun figures to sit down and paint. Basing him on the original bookcover art by Tom Jung, I noticed his rank insignia is similar to that of Tarkin's only flipped. |

The Imperial Gunner is seen mainly in the control room for the big Death Star laser, but we also catch a glimpse of them in the beckground during the Emperor's arrival on the second Death Star. |

I got this idea from the old Kenner AT-AT Driver, especially since I found out that the costumes for this and the TIE Pilot were almost identical, save the uniform color and chest piece. |

The Army Troopers are apparently based off the AT-ST pilot costume from Return of the Jedi. |

Though we originally see him in the hold of the Jawa's sandcrawler, another of the same model walks by Luke, Han, and Chewie while they wait for an elevator to rescue the princess. I simply primed the figure black and drybrushed the metalizer to give it the metallic appearance. |

WEG40303 Bounty Hunters WEG40421 Rebel Troopers 4 |
When I got the first figure in the Bounty Hunters boxed set, I painted him as though he were a Bounty Hunter or Mercenary. The second figure I got from the Rebel Troopers 4, I painted him as my first "Commando". All the time I kept thinking I had seen this figure before though I couldn't quite place it. When I bought my copy of From Star Wars to Indiana Jones: The Best of the Lucasfilm Archive lo' and behold there was the Scout Trooper prototype in full color. I had in fact seen that drawing before in a publication that came out during the Return of the Jedi. |

Imperial Speeder Bike Not one of my better paint jobs. The figure itself does not fit well on the bike so a little tweaking with the handles and feet stirrups are required. |

WEG40504 Storm Skimmer |
Imperial Storm Skimmer I'm particularly proud of this piece, not just becuase it placed 3rd in the International Plastic Modeler's Society in the "Sci-Fi Vehicle" catagory, but because of the amount of work I had to do to get it to look that way. There was a awful lot of thick flashing that came along and several of the recessed lines did not come out well in the molding process. I spent several weeks carving down flashing, scribing out lines, and drilling holes for the engines. I also sculpted a "seat" out of putty so the figures would sit better in the cockpit. |
